Sally Zhang
MS in Business Analytics Associate, Silicon Valley Bank“The MSBA program helped me to learn to quickly extract useful information from large data pools and gave me the critical thinking skill to further analyze information from the dataset.”
Sally Zhang came to Questrom to gain the necessary quantitative and analytical skills she needed to become a qualified risk management professional. What she left with was a new career.
Sally had an undergraduate degree in business from Rutgers and experience as a credit analyst with the Bank of China when she enrolled in the Questrom MSBA. Before she graduated, she attended a BU career fair, where she met an alum who connected her with the career opportunity she was seeking.
At Silicon Valley Bank in Palo Alto, California, Sally provides multiple financial solutions to venture capital and innovation companies. A dedicated credit analyst, she analyzes risk accurately to help both client and company find risk mitigation. She also does due diligence for early-stage and mid-stage companies’ debt financing, and data analysis of startup financials, specifically for liquidity levels.
“The MSBA program helped me to learn to quickly extract useful information from large data pools and gave me the critical thinking skill to further analyze information from the dataset,” Sally says. “I didn’t expect the many group projects in the data analytics program, but they really enhanced my teamwork ability.”
In the future, Sally is looking forward to leveraging her new knowledge and experience to move up into a business analyst position. If she’s like many other MSBA alumni, her Questrom connections will likely pay off again.
