Leah Kriegh
Online MBA Senior Program Manager of Privacy at Remitly, Seattle, Washington“I looked at a number of top online MBA programs really closely. I wanted something more in terms of a program that would help me solve problems that we can’t even imagine yet. A program that incorporates themes of social responsibility. I saw the Questrom curriculum and I knew this program was for me.”
What is the role of business in society? And how does a business balance social responsibility with shareholder value? These are the questions that interest Leah Kriegh—and what drew her to the Questrom Online MBA (OMBA).
Before joining Zulily two years ago, Leah worked at Accenture, Staples, and KPMG US, focused on software design and process development. Over her career, she managed projects that involved technical business transformations, which gave her a broad perspective of how to create solutions across businesses and industries. After taking some time off to be a full-time mom, she’s ready to grow into a new leadership position, but she wants to do so with the future in mind.
“I looked at a number of top online MBA programs really closely,” she says. “I wanted something more in terms of a program that would help me solve problems that we can't even imagine yet. A program that incorporates themes of social responsibility. I saw the Questrom curriculum and I knew this program was for me.”
Leah says her time off as a mom really deepened her perspective on the world. The first module of the Online MBA, creating value for business and society, grabbed her attention from the start. She hopes the program, and her diverse classmates will help her learn how to maintain integrity in business and develop a global workforce in a way that is thoughtful and meaningful.
“I have a very modern approach to solving problems in terms of the impact of digital transformation and where that has shaped business over the last several years,” she says. “Given all that we're capable of digitally, I'm interested in discussing how we balance that with integrity and create value for not only business and the bottom line, but society as a whole.”
For a working mom like Leah, flexibility isn’t just a nice program option, it’s a must-have. Add in the integrated modules, diverse cohorts, and world-class professors, and Leah’s decision to enroll in the Questrom OMBA was a no-brainer.
“I really appreciate the fact that it's one hundred percent online,” Leah says. “That's amazing. The other thing that stuck out to me was the fact that the program was really built from the ground up to be integrated, which mirrors real life. The fact that it's not just one accounting course or finance course, but it's integrated in a way that promotes problem-solving, that is really interesting. I have an undergraduate degree in business, so I was looking for something a little bit different in the MBA, something that would be relevant to today and the way that we solve problems today.”
