After five years as an analyst in the retail and finance space, Ravi Kirtane found himself drawn to the health sector, a field that offered increasing growth opportunities. The first stop on his journey to a new career in health was Questrom.
“Questrom rose to the top of my list for several reasons,” Ravi says. “First, the program's focus on healthcare was critical to me, as I wanted to move into that space. Second, Questrom’s job placement metrics showed that a majority of students were employed within three months at firms all across the healthcare landscape. (The distribution was important because I wasn't sure what sector I wanted to move into and didn't want to be shoehorned.) Third, I was able to pursue a dual degree, getting another highly relevant skillset, which has driven my success.”
Classwork, knowledgeable professors, and access to networking opportunities in the health sector were invaluable to Ravi as he zeroed in on his new career. “The Questrom MBA prepared me to make a successful career switch,” he says. “I gained the experience and tools I needed to sell myself and my value in the marketplace.”
A year after gaining experience at a small health strategies firm, Ravi made the leap to consulting at the global firm EY, where he’s closing in on his five-year anniversary.
Today, his work focuses on the future of healthcare through intelligent automation and artificial intelligence, which he believes are the technologies that will help solve some of the major challenges in the industry, such as how to leverage big data to deliver personalized care.
“It's very exciting work,” he says, “and my MBA was the all-important pivot step from my earlier career.”
