J.P. Matychak is the associate dean for strategic initiatives & chief of staff at the Questrom School of Business. In this capacity, J.P. leads new initiatives at Questrom, manages special projects, works with departments on developing strategies and goals, and oversees the operations of the Office of the Dean, including strategic and coordinated communications from the Dean. J.P. also teaches management communications in both the undergraduate and graduate programs at Questrom.

J.P. joined Questrom in July 2013 first as the assistant dean for the Feld Career Center and the Associate Dean for Student Experience & Services prior to moving into his current role in May 2020. Prior to Questrom, J.P. spent 10 years at the University of Pittsburgh Katz School of Business and College of Business Administration where he served as an academic advisor, assistant director of career services, and director of career services, in the undergraduate program.

J.P. holds a BS in Business and Economics from Lehigh University, an MEd in Higher Education Management from the University of Pittsburgh, and an EdD in Administrative and Policy Studies in Higher Education from the University of Pittsburgh. J.P.’s research focuses on traditional strategic planning, new methods for strategic planning that infuse agile and design thinking methods, and leadership in higher education.
