Commencement 2016: What You Need to Know

Congratulations, Class of 2016!

Boston University will host its 143rd Commencement on Sunday, May 15, honoring the achievements of the Class of 2016 and celebrating their future endeavors. Some 20,000 guests are expected to converge on campus for the weekend’s ceremonies, culminating in the All-University Commencement at Nickerson Field. The Questrom School of Business’ separate convocations for its bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral candidates will be held on Friday, May 13. Whether you’re joining the excitement in person or watching the ceremonies online, stay in the loop with the information below.

Questrom School of Business Convocations

Bachelor’s Candidates

The convocation for bachelor’s candidates will be held on Friday, May 13, from 1:30-3:30 p.m. at Agganis Arena, 925 Commonwealth Ave., immediately followed by a reception from 3:30-4:30 p.m. in the Fitness & Recreation Center, 100 Ashford St. Students must arrive at the Feld Entrance to Agganis Arena (on Harry Agganis Way) by 12:45 p.m. Guests may arrive at the main entrance no earlier than 1 p.m. Seating is first-come, first-served, and tickets are not required. There will be plenty of seating, so bring as many guests as you’d like! The convocation will be live-streamed here.

Master’s & Doctoral Candidates

The convocation for master’s and doctoral candidates will be held on Friday, May 13, at 6 p.m. at Agganis Arena, 925 Commonwealth Ave., immediately followed by a reception at approximately 8 p.m. in the Fitness & Recreation Center, 100 Ashford St. Students must arrive at the Feld Entrance to Agganis Arena (on Harry Agganis Way) no later than 5:15 p.m. Guests may arrive at the main entrance no earlier than 5 p.m. Seating is first-come, first-served, and tickets are not required. There will be plenty of seating, so bring as many guests as you’d like! The convocation will be live-streamed here.

All-University Commencement

The All-University Commencement ceremony will be held on Sunday, May 15, from 1-3 p.m. at Nickerson Field, 285 Babcock St., rain or shine. Students must arrive at Harry Agganis Way by 12:15 p.m. Seating is first-come, first-served, and the stands at Nickerson fill quickly, so we recommend arriving at the field no later than noon. The University’s commencement website provides all the information you need about the weekend’s events, including speakers, security, parking, disability services, and details on how to watch the live webcast.
