Encourage healthy employees.<\/strong> \u201cWe\u2019ve made some major changes to our health program, centering on really caring about the health of our people. We\u2019re demanding, and people love it.\u201d [Employees must get a minimum score on a mandatory biometric screening to receive the full company contribution to their insurance premiums. Trek offers wellness programs\u2014and a bike-to-work scheme\u2014to help employees improve their scores.]<\/p>\n

Build your company \u201cbus.\u201d<\/strong> \u201cWe follow the saying here\u2014\u2018Right people, right seats, awesome bus.\u2019 Do you have the right people? Are they in the right seats doing the right job? And is it an awesome place to work?\u201d<\/p>\n

Add value for customers.<\/strong> \u201cTalking to our bicycle retail customers 10 years ago, we discovered their biggest problem was their point-of-sale systems. A lot of people would look at that and say, \u201cWell, I\u2019m in the bicycle business, so that\u2019s not my problem.\u201d We looked at that and said, \u201cHm. Maybe we should go out and buy a point-of-sale system.\u201d<\/p>\n

Live and breathe the product.<\/strong> \u201cI think it helps your credibility. I\u2019m riding 6,000 miles a year<\/a>, I\u2019m seeing a lot of our customers ride their bikes, and I notice a lot of trends when I\u2019m out riding.\u201d<\/p>\n
