{"id":3931,"date":"2017-10-09T13:39:42","date_gmt":"2017-10-09T17:39:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/psych\/?post_type=profile&#038;p=3931"},"modified":"2025-01-29T10:22:21","modified_gmt":"2025-01-29T15:22:21","slug":"james-cherry-phd","status":"publish","type":"profile","link":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/psych\/profile\/james-cherry-phd\/","title":{"rendered":"James Cherry"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Director of Graduate Studies<br \/>\nDirector:<\/strong>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/cherrylab\/\">Laboratory of Molecular Neurobiology &amp; Behavior<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span>My research interests address sex dimorphisms in the nervous system.\u00a0 In general, our goal is to understand the extent to which behavioral sex differences are anatomically &#8216;hard-wired\u2019, or are due to the presence of particular gonadal hormones (e.g., testosterone and estradiol).\u00a0 I currently use the mouse olfactory system as a model to understand the pathways and mechanisms by which odors involved in reproduction, such as pheromones, are processed differentially by males and females, and the role of gonadal hormones in affecting such processing.\u00a0 We have also begun to apply this analysis to other sexually dimorphic behaviors exhibited by rodents, with the goal of extending our findings to humans.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":13845,"template":"","_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/psych\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/profile\/3931"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/psych\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/profile"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/psych\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/profile"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/psych\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/13845"}],"version-history":[{"count":10,"href":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/psych\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/profile\/3931\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":5761,"href":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/psych\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/profile\/3931\/revisions\/5761"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/psych\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=3931"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
