Otto, Ph.D.,<b>\u00a0<\/b>is Professor in the Psychological and Brain Sciences department at Boston University.\u00a0Dr. Otto\u00a0has had a major career focus on developing and validating new psychosocial treatments for mood, anxiety, and substance use disorders. <\/span><span>This work includes a translational research agenda investigating brain-behavior relationships in therapeutic learning. Attention to principles underlying behavior-change failures led him to an additional focus on health-behavior promotion, including investigations of addictive behaviors, medication adherence, sleep, and exercise. <\/span><span>Dr. Otto has over 25 years of continuous funding from NIH, and has published over 500 articles, chapters, and books spanning his research interests. He has been identified as a \u201ctop producer\u201d in the clinical empirical literature,\u00a0an ISI Highly Cited Researcher, and recipient of the\u00a0<i>Distinguished Scientific Contributions to Clinical Psychology<\/i>\u00a0award from the American Psychological Association, Division 12 and the 2024 <i>Outstanding Researcher<\/i> award from the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies (ABCT).\u00a0He is also recipient of a 2019\u00a0<i>Elizabeth Hurlock Beckman Award<\/i>\u00a0for excellence in mentoring from the American Psychological Association and the <\/span><span>2023 <\/span><i>Toy Caldwell-Colbert Award for Distinguished Educator in Clinical Psychology<\/i><span>.\u00a0Dr. Otto is past President of the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies and Past President of the American Psychological Association Division 12, and his service to the field was recognized in 2010 by an\u00a0<i>Outstanding Service Award<\/i>\u00a0from ABCT.
