Psychiatric Rehabilitation Coaching
For decades, the Center for Psychiatric Rehabilitation has developed, researched, and dissem
inated Coaching models. The Institute is a workshop series showcasing the principles and practices that effectively transfer and translate across professions. Psychiatric rehabilitation coaching ties together the science and practice of choice, change, and wellness. The Coaching Institute is an immersive experience to support coaches, mental health providers, and educators in building coaching capacity and confidence.
Meet the Presenters
Paul Cherchia, LMHC
Paul has led the development and dissemination of various psychiatric rehabilitation coaching initiatives and coached hundreds of young adults in the College Mental Health Education Programs, which he currently co-directs. Paul supervises professional Coaches in the College Mental Health Education Program.
Ali Gold, CPS
Ali Gold, BS, CPS, is a trainer in the fields of psychiatric rehabilitation and recovery-oriented interventions. A current coach in the College Mental Health Education Programs. Ali also supervises the Peer Coaches as a part of the evidence-based PASS program. Ali identifies as a person in recovery as well.

Continuing Education Units
This program has been approved for 1.5 Social Work Continuing Education hours per workshop for relicensure, in accordance with 258 CMR. NASW-MA Chapter CE Approving Program, Authorization Number: D10202. Registered attendees, who meet attendance requirements, will need to complete a survey at the end of the Institute. After completion of the survey, a CEU certificate for the number of CEUs earned will be sent.

Workshop 1: Supervising Coaches in the Mental Health & Education Field
June 11th, 2026 12:00 PM – 1:30 PM EST

The coaching supervisor is the touchstone for the program, serving as both a mentor and role model for Coaches, and as the liaison between the Coaching Model and campus staff and faculty, families, organizations, and other community providers. Supervisors train Coaches in a variety of ways, including role-plays, videos, discussion, and skill practice. Issues of diversity and inclusion in supervision strategies are discussed.
Workshop 2: Supervising Peer Coaches in the Mental Health & Education Field
June 18th, 2026 12:00 PM – 1:30 PM EST

This workshop will assist supervisors in supervising peer coaches both in higher education and clinical settings. The program supervisor must be compassionate and efficient, capable of wearing many hats. This workshop will train supervisors on a range of skills and best practices to help peer coaches effectively implement their roles. The workshop will also focus on evidence-based mentoring skills for supervisors.
