David H. Webber<\/b>\u00a0is the author of the critically-acclaimed book,\u00a0<\/span>The Rise of the Working-Class Shareholder: Labor\u2019s Last Best Weapon<\/a><\/i>, published by Harvard University Press.\u00a0The book argues that labor has a massive untapped source of shareholder power in its trillions of dollars in pension assets.\u00a0Webber\u00a0<\/span>toured extensively<\/a>\u00a0for it and published related op-eds in the\u00a0<\/span>New York Times<\/a>,\u00a0<\/span><\/i>the\u00a0<\/span>Washington Post<\/a><\/i>, the\u00a0Los Angeles Times<\/a><\/i>,\u00a0<\/i>and elsewhere.\u00a0<\/span><\/i>The book was reviewed or otherwise covered in the\u00a0<\/span>New York Review of Books<\/a><\/i>, the\u00a0<\/span>Financial Times<\/a>,\u00a0<\/span>Publisher\u2019s Weekly<\/a><\/i>,\u00a0<\/span>Bloomberg Radio<\/a>,\u00a0<\/span>CSPAN\u2019s BookTV<\/a>,\u00a0<\/span>Forbes<\/a><\/i>,\u00a0<\/span>the Harvard Law School Forum on Corporate Governance and Financial Regulation<\/a>, the\u00a0<\/span>Harvard\u00a0<\/span><\/a>OnLabor<\/a><\/i>\u00a0blog<\/a>,\u00a0<\/span>Cornell University\u2019s<\/a>\u00a0ILR Review<\/a><\/i>,\u00a0<\/span>Rorotoko<\/a>,\u00a0<\/span>de Volkskrant<\/a>,\u00a0<\/span>Calcalist<\/a>,\u00a0<\/span>Splinter News<\/a>,\u00a0<\/span>The National Review<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span>Dissent<\/a><\/i>. Webber\u2019s most recent publications have appeared in the\u00a0<\/span>Harvard Business Law Review<\/i>, the\u00a0<\/span>University of Chicago Business Law Review<\/i>, the\u00a0<\/span>University of Pennsylvania Journal of Law and Business,\u00a0<\/span><\/i>and the\u00a0<\/span>Stanford Journal of Law, Economics and Business.<\/i>\u00a0He has previously published articles in the\u00a0<\/span>New York University Law Review,\u00a0<\/span><\/i>the\u00a0<\/span>Northwestern University Law Review, and\u00a0<\/span><\/i>the\u00a0<\/span>Vanderbilt Law Review.\u00a0<\/span><\/i>He has presented his research at the Harvard Stanford Yale Junior Faculty Forum, the Conference on Empirical Legal Studies, and the American Law and Economics Association conference. His work has twice been recognized by Corporate Practice Commentator, a national survey of law scholars,\u00a0<\/span>as one of the top ten corporate and securities law articles of the year.<\/a><\/p>\n

The BU Law Class of 2023 voted him the Mark Pettit Teaching Award winner. He also won the 2023 Dean\u2019s award for excellence in teaching. In 2017 he was awarded the Michael Melton Award for Teaching Excellence. He has also received the Dean\u2019s award for service to the law school in 2020 and 2021. He co-teaches the Pensions and Capital Stewardship course for the Harvard Trade Union program at Harvard Law School, where he also spent Spring 2024 as a fellow for the Center for Labor and A Just Economy. He has served as Visiting Chair in Business Law at Tel Aviv University Law School and has taught at Reichman University and Boston College Law School. He is a graduate of Columbia and NYU Law School, where he was an editor for the law review.
