{"id":57112,"date":"2014-01-22T14:12:44","date_gmt":"2014-01-22T19:12:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/experts\/?post_type=profile&#038;p=57112"},"modified":"2019-10-30T16:02:20","modified_gmt":"2019-10-30T20:02:20","slug":"thomas-webster","status":"publish","type":"profile","link":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/prsocial\/profile\/thomas-webster\/","title":{"rendered":"Thomas Webster"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Tom Webster has several main research areas: 1) exposure routes and health hazards of chemicals used in consumer products, especially polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs), other flame retardants, and perfluoralkyl compounds (PFCs); 2) mixtures of chemicals (with applications in toxicology and epidemiology); 3) endocrine disruption; 4) methodological aspects of environmental epidemiology, particularly issues in spatial epidemiology such as disease mapping and clusters, ecologic bias, and the use of combinations of individual and group level data.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Webster served on the National Research Council\u2019s Subcommittee on Fluoride in Drinking Water and the Institute of Medicine\u2019s Committee on Making Best Use of the Agent Orange Exposure Reconstruction Model. \u00a0The work of Dr. Webster and his colleagues and students has been featured in Environmental Health Perspectives (\u201cPFCs and Cholesterol: A Sticky Connection,\u201d \u201cUnwelcome Guest: PBDEs in Indoor Dust\u201d), Bostonia magazine (\u201cTrouble at Home,\u201d \u201cYou Are What You Eat, Including Your Sofa\u201d), Discovery News (\u201cHandwashing Cuts Flame Retardant Exposure\u201d) and the National Public Radio show \u201cLiving on Earth,\u201d among other places.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":11144,"template":"","_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/prsocial\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/profile\/57112"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/prsocial\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/profile"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/prsocial\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/profile"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/prsocial\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/11144"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/prsocial\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/profile\/57112\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":70880,"href":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/prsocial\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/profile\/57112\/revisions\/70880"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/prsocial\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=57112"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
