{"id":56812,"date":"2014-01-08T14:48:54","date_gmt":"2014-01-08T19:48:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/experts\/?post_type=profile&#038;p=56812"},"modified":"2019-10-31T11:25:43","modified_gmt":"2019-10-31T15:25:43","slug":"aaron-fogel","status":"publish","type":"profile","link":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/prsocial\/profile\/aaron-fogel\/","title":{"rendered":"Aaron Fogel"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Aaron Fogel currently teaches courses on modern British and American poetry, modern and nineteenth century British fiction, and occasionally topics like Population and Literature, Poets\u2019 Prose, or Theories of Laughter.\u00a0 His work\u2013only on retrospect\u2013has been concerned with some of the plainest, most neutral formats we have and their possible implications.\u00a0 These formats include Interrogation or forced dialogue, which we see all the time, for example in television dramas; \u201cdemographics\u201d and Census, often used as a plain court of last resort in public and journalistic discussions of the real; and the Prose Page\u2019s layout, typography and design.\u00a0 Each given\u2014question-and-answer, counting people, prose rectangles and blocs\u2014should be approached not just sociologically or neutrally but as (roughly) a poetry.\u00a0 A poetics of forced speech, of census, and of the prose page, then\u2013each has a history. \u00a0He has been publishing a row of eccentric comic essays on various kinds of visionary word play in literature, defending a comic criticism, teaching less often taught poems and novels, and publishing poems in different modes in various anthologies and journals.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":11144,"template":"","_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/prsocial\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/profile\/56812"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/prsocial\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/profile"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/prsocial\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/profile"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/prsocial\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/11144"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/prsocial\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/profile\/56812\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":70957,"href":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/prsocial\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/profile\/56812\/revisions\/70957"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/prsocial\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=56812"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
