Cleveland is Professor of\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/earth\/\" contenteditable=\"false\" title=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/earth\/\">Earth &amp; Environment<\/a><span> and an Associate Director of the\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/igs\" contenteditable=\"false\" title=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/igs\">Boston University Institute for Global Sustainability<\/a>.<span><\/span> Dr. Cleveland\u2019s research and teaching focus on the connection among energy, climate change, and sustainability.<\/p>\n<p><span>He is the founder and leader of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/visualizingenergy.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"https:\/\/visualizingenergy.org\/\" data-outlook-id=\"d55cb27f-03a7-4430-8598-b0dfd838e15e\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Visualizing Energy<\/a><span>, an open-access, interdisciplinary science communication project that aims to increase actionable knowledge about a sustainable and just energy transition. <\/span>He recently served as the principal investigator for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/igs\/research\/projects\/carbon-free-boston-reports\/\"><em>Carbon Free Boston<\/em><\/a>, a technical assessment of strategies to assist the City of Boston in reaching carbon neutrality by 2050. He currently serves on the Advisory Board for Project Drawdown.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Cleveland is author and editor of reference works on energy that include the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Encyclopedia-Energy-Series\/dp\/012176480X\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Encyclopedia of Energy<\/em><\/a>, winner of an American Library Association award; the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.elsevier.com\/books\/dictionary-of-energy\/cleveland\/978-0-08-096811-7\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Dictionary of Energy<\/em><\/a>; and the <a href=\"http:\/\/store.elsevier.com\/Handbook-of-Energy\/Cutler-J_-Cleveland\/isbn-9780080914572\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Handbook of Energy<\/em><\/a>. Dr. Cleveland is the recipient of the Adelman-Frankel Award from the United States Association of Energy Economics for \u201cunique and innovative contributions to the field of energy economics.\u201d He is co-author of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.trunity.com\/products\/digital-textbooks\/environmental-science\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Environmental Science<\/em><\/a>, the Web\u2019s first digital textbook on the subject.
