{"id":8,"date":"2012-02-01T15:31:59","date_gmt":"2012-02-01T20:31:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/provost\/?page_id=8"},"modified":"2020-03-06T15:32:32","modified_gmt":"2020-03-06T20:32:32","slug":"awards-publications","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/provost\/awards-publications\/","title":{"rendered":"Awards &amp; Publications"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>A History of Achievement<\/h2>\n<p>With a laboratory of innovation dating back to Professor Alexander Graham Bell\u2019s invention of the telephone, Boston University faculty, students, and alumni have never shied away from aspiration, hard work, or extraordinary achievement.<\/p>\n<p>Today, BU proudly counts among its distinguished current and past faculty six Nobel Laureates and dozens of Guggenheim and MacArthur fellows, Pulitzer Prize and National Book Award winners, <em>New York Times<\/em> best-selling authors, and hundreds of nationally renowned scholars in every discipline. BU students have been historically high achievers, as well, with eight Rhodes scholars since 1971; a tradition of nationally recognized research projects, creative endeavors, and intellectual pursuits; and ongoing distinction as one of the nation\u2019s largest producers of Fulbright scholars.<\/p>\n<p>The pages in this section chronicle much of the ingenuity, industriousness, and accomplishments taking place each day within the BU community.
