Electronic Curriculum Approval Process (eCAP)
Proposals for additions and modifications to Boston University’s wide range of academic programs are subject to careful review at many levels. Successful proposals should meet the highest standards of intellectual cogency, academic need, and alignment with the school or college and University strategic plans. The eCAP system allows schools and colleges to easily submit proposals online using a standard form, upload the relevant supporting documents, as well as track and view the proposal’s status as it moves through the review process. Provost’s Faculty Teaching Awards Committee
The Provost’s Faculty Teaching Awards Committee recommends to the President the winners of the Metcalf Cup and Prize and Metcalf Awards, the winner of the Boston University’s Provost’s Scholar-Teacher of the Year Award, and the winner of the Gerald and Deanne Gitner Family Award for Innovation in Teaching with Technology. Undergraduate Council
The Undergraduate Academic Council meets once per month to consider matters that affect the quality of the undergraduate experience at Boston University. Its membership is set by the University Provost, and normally includes the associate and assistant deans of the schools and colleges with undergraduate programs. The council is chaired by the Associate Provost for Undergraduate Affairs. Read more.
Undergraduate Student Advisory Board
The Undergraduate Student Advisory Board advises the Associate Provost for Undergraduate Affairs on a range of issues affecting the undergraduate academic experience. Comprising representatives from across BU’s 10 undergraduate schools and colleges, the board meets monthly with the Associate Provost, sharing concerns of fellow students and ideas for improving undergraduate education. University Council Committee on Undergraduate Programs & Policies
The Committee on Undergraduate Academic Programs and Policies considers and votes on proposals for new and revised programs submitted through the eCap system, and for new and revised policies put forward by the Undergraduate Council or other bodies. As required, the Committee presents program and policy proposals to the University Council for discussion and vote. The Committee will meet at least once a month on the Charles River Campus. The University Council Committee is the first stage in developing policies that will be implemented University-wide. The active engagement of faculty and key staff members of the University community is vital to shared governance. Read more.
