The GitHub desktop is designed to extend your GitHub workflow beyond your browser. It is a unified cross-platform and open source tool that allows you to easily track your GitHub repositories and collaborate with others. It does not require you to know any shell commands or have any Git experience, but we still recommend that you register for the other two parts of this tutorial: “Version Control and Collaboration with Git and GitHub” to learn many more advanced features.
