Coffee & Conversation: Reflections on the Civil Rights Movement

  • Starts: 3:00 pm on Friday, January 19, 2018
  • Ends: 5:00 pm on Friday, January 19, 2018
Inspired by Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, the Howard Thurman Center invites you to a conversation about the legacy of the Civil Rights Movement, and a discussion on how it’s viewed today. How much did you learn about this movement before starting your college career? Does it seem like a dated, inaccessible history to you? Has the movement become romanticized as part of a bygone era? Did the movement end with the death of Dr. King, or is it still at work? These and other questions will be discussed. Open to students, faculty, staff and alumni.

Howard Thurman Center for Common Ground, 775 Commonwealth Ave Lower Level
