Digital Signal Processing: Teaching and Research Perspectives With Professor Sambasiva Srinivasan Electrical Engineering Department Indian Institute of Technology, Madras Faculty Host: David Castanon Refreshments will be served outside Room 339 at 12:45 p.m. Abstract: In this talk, we provide an introduction to Digital Signal Processor (DSP) architectures and then discuss some research work on improved DSP designs for specific applications such as image processing. About the Speaker: Professor Srinivasan is Professor Emeritus of Electrical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras. He was formerly the Chair of the ECE Department. He has held teaching positions at California State University and at the University of California, Davis. He has extensive experience in both teaching and research in the areas of digital design, architectures and applications of digital signal processors, image processing and video compression and FPGA based implementation. He is a fellow of the IETE and has won numerous other recognitions including the Siemens Prize for Academic Proficiency, DAAD Fellowship and the Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship. He is the coauthor of the book, Digital Signal Processing Implementations: Using DSP Microprocessors, and has developed various online courses, including the course, Digital System Design, taught this spring to thousands of students and offered through the National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning. He is currently working on a book on FPGA implementation of Digital VLSI Circuits.
