IS&T SCV Tutorial - Introduction to Python for Non-Programmers, Part One
- Starts: 10:00 am on Tuesday, June 25, 2013
- Ends: 12:00 pm on Tuesday, June 25, 2013
This tutorial includes a brief introduction to basic programming in Python, including basic types (Integer, Float, String, and Boolean), if-statements, functions, lists, dictionaries, loops, and modules. This is an introduction to the essential features of Python AND basic concepts in programming. We’ll do some interactive tasks, for example implementing a vector dot-product. After this tutorial you’ll be ready to explore all the amazing modules Python has to offer. While we will be working on the Linux cluster, this tutorial does not require any prior experience. We recommend taking the Introduction to Linux tutorial, but we will help you get through the few steps that require experience using Linux and the command line interface. This first tutorial will cover roughly half of the material. Remember to sign up for both sessions to complete the tutorial.
If you try to sign up for this tutorial and find that it is full, please send email to scv-tutorial@bu.edu and we will do our best to accommodate you.
