POSTPONED-Spring Networking Event: It's not about being ON Social, it's about BEING Social

  • Starts: 5:30 pm on Tuesday, April 16, 2013
Please note that this event has been postponed, and a new date has yet to be announced. Every company is struggling to define its “social media strategy” but half of them are failing to reap the benefits. How can you make sure to be on the winning side? The key lies not in mastering the bewildering spectrum of digital technologies but rather in recognizing that social media has enabled humans to reassert their social nature in commercial settings. In this talk Professor Dellarocas will provide a framework for thinking about social media strategies along those lines. He will show how some of the most successful social media initiatives of recent years are instances of this thinking and how violating it has led to some of the best publicized social media disasters. He will propose concrete steps that companies can take to transform key business processes into social processes. Chris Dellarocas is Professor and Chair of Information Systems at Boston University. He is one of the world’s most cited scholars in the fields of online reputation and social media. Other interests include collective intelligence, online advertising and the economics of media industries.
