Radar-based Analysis Approach for the Characterization of Plasma Turbulence in the Ionosphere -- Date: Tuesday, April 9, 2013, 12:00pm -- 8 Saint Mary's Street, Room 339 -- Advisor: Min-Chang Lee (ECE); Committee: Hamid Nawab (ECE); Joshua Semeter (ECE); Mark Horenstein (ECE) --- Previous theoretical work, by Kuo and Lee, predicts that ionospheric plasma turbulence induced by the parametric decay instability propagates downward once it is excited. By incorporating the Wigner-Ville Distribution into the radar signal processing chain, I was able to observe downward propagating plasma turbulence, despite the low altitude resolution of the radar, that further substantiates the Kuo and Lee theory
