Christine McGuire to Step Down as Vice President and Associate Provost for Enrollment & Student Administration

From Dr. Gloria Waters, University Provost and Chief Academic Officer

I write to share news that Christine McGuire, who has served as vice president and associate provost for enrollment and student administration (ENSA) since 2016, has announced plans to step down from her role in January to take on a new position as associate dean for enrollment and student success at the Bank Street Graduate School of Education in New York City.

Christine has been a valued colleague and member of the BU community since 2001, providing oversight on a wide range of issues related to the student experience, from admissions, registration, and student financial assistance to student employment, career services, enrollment and retention strategies, and the University’s recent transition to a new student information system. Under her leadership, ENSA has played a pivotal role advancing BU’s reputation through improved admission, retention, and graduation rates and metrics of yield. Christine successfully managed undergraduate enrollment through the unprecedented challenge of the COVID pandemic, BU’s historic merger with Wheelock College, and the implementation of affordableBU. She chaired the committee recommending the creation of the Newbury Center for first-generation students and has been deeply committed to the success of our students.

Christine has devoted over 30 years to enrollment management in higher education, wearing a number of important hats that have benefited Boston University. Prior to her appointment as vice president and associate provost, she served as associate vice president of enrollment and student affairs and executive director of financial assistance and twice as acting University registrar in 2010 and 2016. To all of these roles, Christine has brought professionalism and generosity as both a manager and a colleague.

Christine’s final day at BU will be January 17, 2025. In the coming weeks, we will announce a national search to identify her successor and name an interim leader for Enrollment & Student Administration. In the meantime, please join me in thanking Christine for her exceptional service and many contributions to enrollment management at Boston University and in wishing her well as she begins this next exciting chapter in her career.
