Our Fall 2023 Preservation Studies Field Trip was an exploration of a range of heritage and preservation activities in Nantucket, MA. A<\/span> background <\/span>to the island\u2019s history and evolution of preservation was provided by Hillary Hedges <\/span>Rayport<\/span>. An introduction to the work of Nantucket Preservation Trust was given to the group by Rita Carr, Deputy Director, which included a walking tour of Main Street. The group also tour<\/span>ed<\/span> the family home of Hillary Hedges<\/span> <\/span>Rayport<\/span> on Main Street, followed by a tour of the Oldest House and its grounds to discuss structure as well as themes in preservation, with Niles Parker, Executive Director Nantucket Historical Association. <\/span>We were able to vi<\/span>sit the Pacific Club with Board Member Ginger Andrews<\/span>, who provided<\/span> an introduction to the layers of building history, social history<\/span>,<\/span> and uses.<\/span> <\/span>The trip also included a<\/span> glimpse of the Whaling Museum, Nantucket Historical Association.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
