She received her B.A. in Religion from Wellesley College and her PhD in Political Science from Northwestern University. She has held fellowships at\u00a0Cornell University, the Yale Whitney Humanities\u00a0Center, and the BU Humanities Center.<\/p>\n<p>Professor Maxwell is\u00a0the author of three books: <em>Rachel Carson and the Power of Queer Love<\/em> (Stanford UP, 2025), <em>Insurgent Truth: Chelsea Manning and the Politics of Outsider Truth-Telling<\/em> (Oxford UP, 2019), and\u00a0<em>Public Trials: Burke, Zola, Arendt, and the Politics of Lost Causes<\/em>\u00a0(Oxford UP, 2015). She is also the co-editor of\u00a0<em>Second Nature: Rethinking Nature Through Politics<\/em>\u00a0(Fordham UP, 2014), and the co-author of\u00a0<em>The Right to Have Rights<\/em>\u00a0(Verso, 2018).
