Opening Celebration of Textiles Tell Stories: Exploring the African Studies Library Collection

  • Starts: 6:00 pm on Wednesday, March 19, 2025
  • Ends: 8:00 pm on Wednesday, March 19, 2025
Join students, faculty, staff from across the BU community and beyond to celebrate the opening of a new exhibition by the Special Collections division of the BU Libraries. Textiles Tell Stories: Exploring the African Studies Library Collection provides a glimpse into the rich history, meaning, and use of African textiles. During our Opening Celebration for the BU community, we'll learn about African textiles, listen to live Afro-Pop and Moz-Jazz music and enjoy West African food as we celebrate this new exhibition and our BU community. The exhibition, curated in partnership with Dr. Cynthia Becker, professor of African art history at Boston University, features textiles from the African Studies Library and gives an overview of how textiles have been used in Africa as well as how they continue to act in the world.
