Hunter is the inventor of H-IQ, the first assessment of individual imagination and ideation, available on line at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hunter-iq.com\">www.hunter-iq.com<\/a>. He is the co-author with Dr. Rex Jung and Ranee Flores of <em>A New Measure of Imagination Ability: Anatomical Brain Imaging Correlates <\/em>published March 22, 2016 in <em>The Frontiers of Psychology<\/em>, an international peer-reviewed journal.<\/p>\n<p>Hunter is writing a new book, <em>Think Again<\/em>, a layman\u2019s investigation into artificial intelligence.<\/p>\n<p>Hunter\u2019s latest book of humor, <em>Iowa?&#8230;It\u2019s a State of Mind, <\/em>was published in 2011 joining his two other books of humor, <em>Let\u2019s Keep Des Moines a Private Joke<\/em> and <em>The Search for Iowa (&amp; We Don\u2019t Grow Potatoes).<\/em>\u00a0 He worked for many years as a singer\/songwriter and humorist known for songs like Walkin\u2019 Beans, $15 Beans and Please Don\u2019t Burn Perry Como.<\/p>\n<p>He is the former executive director of the Massachusetts Advocates for the Arts, Sciences, and Humanities (MAASH) a statewide advocacy and education group. An award-winning playwright, songwriter and humorist, Hunter also has 25 years\u2019 experience in politics and arts advocacy, serving as Director of the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs (a cabinet appointment requiring Senate confirmation) and running a successful advertising and political consultancy firm in Des Moines.<\/p>\n<p>Hunter was managing director of Boston Playwrights\u2019 Theatre at Boston University from 1999 to 2002. He has taught playwriting at Boston University since then and has had one-act plays published by Baker\u2019s Plays, including\u00a0<em>Mirror Man<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Internal Medicine,<\/em> and\u00a0<em>The Monkey King<\/em>. He is the composer and writer of\u00a0<em>Picture Postcard Musicale<\/em>, based on the texts of picture postcards from 1906 to 1910. Hunter has performed a one-man show of topical humor in original song, and he has made numerous radio and television appearances, including on ABC\u2019s <em>Good Morning America<\/em>, National Public Radio, BBC, and CNN <em>Nightly News<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>From 1980 to 1997, Hunter owned and operated Dan Hunter Creative Services. He earned his BA from Hampshire College in Amherst, Mass., and his MA from Boston University.
