My active topics are spectral self-interference as a means of improving fluorescence microscopy resolution, resonant Raman studies of single carbon nanotubes, and very sensitive and high spatial resolution stress-measurements in micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS) using micro-Raman spectroscopy. In addition, I look at optical properties of low-dimensional systems (carbon nanotubes and graphene) as well as biological imaging and detection using interference techniques (4Pi microscopy and spectral fluorescence microsopy).

Selected Publications:

“Long tailed trions in monolayer MoS $ _2 $: Temperature dependent asymmetry and red-shift of trion photoluminescence spectra”, JW Christopher, BB Goldberg, AK Swan, Scientific reports 7 (1), 14063, (2017)

“2D Raman band splitting in graphene: Charge screening and lifting of the K-point Kohn anomaly.” X Wang, JW Christopher, AK Swan, Scientific reports 7 (1), 13539 (2017)

“Graphene Terahertz Plasmons: A Combined Transmission Spectroscopy and Raman Microscopy Study”, K Tantiwanichapan, X Wang, H Durmaz, Y Li, AK Swan, R Paiella, ACS Photonics 4 (8), 2011-2017

“Band gap engineering with ultralarge biaxial strains in suspended monolayer MoS2” D Lloyd, X Liu, JW Christopher, L Cantley, A Wadehra, BL Kim, Nano letters 16 (9), 5836-5841

“How graphene slides: measurement and theory of strain-dependent frictional forces between graphene and SiO2” AL Kitt, Z Qi, S Rémi, HS Park, AK Swan, BB Goldberg, Nano letters 13 (6), 2605-2610 (2013)

For a full list of publications, please see the attached CV
