Accelerator based neutrino beams are excellent for use in experiments studying fundamental properties of the neutrino. In order to conduct these experiments, it is vital to have a good understanding of the neutrino flux created by these beams. Flux predictions made by beamline simulations rely heavily on external hadron scattering and production measurements. EMPHATIC is an experiment aimed at probing unexplored and under-explored regions of hadron production and scattering on a variety of relevant nuclear targets. In this talk I will discuss the importance of these hadron production measurements to be made by EMPHATIC for use in neutrino beam based experiments such as T2K.
