Congratulations to Dr. Alp Akpinar for Receiving the Springer Theses Award!
We are thrilled to announce that Dr. Alp Akpinar, advised by Prof. Zeynep Demiragli, has been awarded the Springer Theses award for his outstanding PhD research in the field of dark matter at the colliders. Dr. Akpinar’s thesis, conducted within the CMS experiment at CERN, explored interactions between the Higgs boson and dark matter. His research not only provided some of the most stringent constraints to date but also paved the way for next generation searches by integrating innovative deep learning techniques. Additionally, Dr. Akpinar’s contributions to the development of new data processing hardware for the CMS Inner Tracker will play a crucial role in the upcoming High Luminosity LHC phase!
We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to the thesis committee for their guidance and support: Prof. James Rohlf, Prof. David Sperka, Prof. Martin Schmaltz, Prof. Emanuel Katz, and Prof. Shyamsunder Erramilli.
Congratulations once again, Dr. Akpinar, on this well-deserved recognition!
