Brand: The defendant in an assize of Mortdancestor claimed only wardship till the plaintiff came of age (the record shows this was as grantee of the rightful guardian). The plaintiff said he was already of age and had received livery of his lands from his other lords. Because he was the claimant, the issue of his age went to the assize. It confirmed that he was indeed of age.
