Process and Pleading
At Capias, the sheriff returned that he had (defendant's) body.
A Supersedeas issued out of Chancery sent to the sheriff reciting (defendant's) privilege and commanding that the sheriff ought not take (defendant's) body, 'nor do anything else to him'.
Defendant was demanded.
Defendant appeared willingly (gratis)
Newton CJCP said that the Warden of Fleet prison would have his fees, then asked the (King's?) Serjeants whether they wanted to say anythng for the king; and then said that is seemed to him that the sheriff would be amerced for this return.

Newton CJCP: the warden of Fleet (prison) will have his fees, because if he sheriff has taken (arrested) one and then (the sheriff) has Supersedeas out of Common Pleas, yet he (the defendant) will be adjudged (to be) in prison because he was once taken (arrested), or if he (defendant) has Supersedeas before he (defendant) is taken and this is delivered afterward
