Statham Corone 27, fol. 56b, dated this Hil. 21 Hen. 6: one became an approver at Newgate (Neuugate), before Sir Richard Newton CJCP, and then a coroner was assigned to him, etc.; and so see that he confessed the felony before the Justices, etc.; query if the justices were absent whether he (defendant) could demand the coroner and become an approver, etc.; and the Justices gave him three days of space (trois jours despace) with the coroner; and note that he will never appeal after that time, etc.; and on the same day another was arraigned because he had abjured (forjoure) the realm (le roialme), and he was taken out of the high road (del haut chemyne); he said that he went out of the high road ignorantly (nient sachant), and as soon as (auxi tost come) he knew (sau(oit)) that he was out of the road he went to the constable and prayed him to put him on the road, and he took him and arrested him, etc.; and this matter was found, and he went acquitted, and he was commanded to hold to (tenir) the high road, (ne forte &c.) (Klingelsmith translated : nor henceforth (go out of it), etc.)
