"The Shape of Abstraction" features the works by twenty-four historic and contemporary artists who have expanded the visual inventory of abstract art by focusing on shapes.
From Jean Arp to Sol Lewitt, artists throughout the last century have expanded the visual inventory of abstract art with an endless array of shapes. These artists have focused on simple forms devoid of their representational associations, yet invested with infinite associative possibilities. "The Shape of Abstraction" will present unexpected, as well as classic juxtapositions of works by modern and contemporary masters to offer a small, but elegant version of the history of abstract art and its ongoing tradition.
The exhibition is guest curated by Boston-based independent curator Rachael Arauz, and will be on display February 5 - March 28. |
