This paper examines the ambiguities in religion, language and territoriality produced in the frontiers of the British empire, the battlefields of the Second World War, and the borderlands produced through the connected partitions of the Bengal delta region that haunted the Rohingya identity throughout the twentieth century, and continues to do so till this day. *Reading the working paper in advance is required for attendance.* Email cura@bu.edu for your copy.
