Description |
Join the Outing Club as we hike Mt. Pemigewasset located in the Franconia Notch State Park in NH. This moderate 3.3 mile out & back hike will feature spectacular views into the notch. Be prepared for chilly temperatures with plenty of layers and perhaps a thermos full of hot tea. We will depart campus at 8:30am, arrive at the Flume Visitor Center around 11am, summit and eat lunch either on the summit around noon or retreat to a more covered location to eat lunch. Our goal is to return to campus around 4pm, but be prepared to return to campus at 6pm at the latest. BUOC will provide microspikes, but it is expected that participants have the appropriate clothing and footwear for this winter hike. This includes but not limited to: non-jean pants (ideally hiking pants with an insulating layer underneath or snow pants), non-cotton base layers, insulating layers (such as a puffy jacket), and a waterproof outer shell (such as a rain jacket). In addition, hats and gloves are STRONGLY recommended. We also suggest bringing a faceguard such as a Buff or Balaclava to protect the face from the wind. Microspikes will fit over most hiking boots. Hiking boots are required on this hike and participants will be turned away if they show up to the meeting point in sneakers. |
