Summary |
CURA Colloquium: The Networked Paul |
Description |
Saint Paul was a networked being whose textual and corporeal substances blended in a remarkably 'postmodern' way. Drawing on the work of Talal Asad and Saba Mahmoud, I will argue that the circulation of Paul's body and letters, themselves a function of technologies of travel and textual distribution of the late ancient world, played as important a role in the formation of proto-Christian identity as did the contents of the letters themselves. *Reading the working paper in advance is required for attendance.* Email cura@bu.edu for your copy.
