PEP TRAINING - Habilitation - A Tried and True Model for Working with People with Alzheimer's Disease

Habilitation is a tried and true model for working with people with Alzheimer’s disease designed to make the best use of the person’s remaining skills and abilities, create an environment around the person to accommodate their sensory losses, and most importantly, promote positive emotions. Attendees will begin the day by learning the parts of the brain that are most affected by Alzheimer’s, what stops working, and what continues to work late into the disease process. The remainder of the day will provide detailed tips and techniques for: Knowing and Understanding the Individual, Effective Communication, The Physical Environment, Purposeful Engagement, and Behavior as the Person’s Communication with Us. This session is a must for all professionals working with older adults!
