Cheng and his team have invented a series of chemical microscopes that use spectroscopic signals to map molecular interactions inside a living system temporally and spatially. Cheng&#8217;s inventions include the CARS microscope, multiplex SRS microscope, and mid-infrared photothermal microscope.
