Nathan is passionate about math and science outreach. While in high school, he co-founded a free tutoring organization for middle school students. As an undergraduate, Nathan is a TA and peer educator, helping fellow students with math coursework. Nathan&#8217;s research interests made him a great fit for <\/span>the summer 2025 REU program at Boston University.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/photonics-programs\/wp-admin\/post.php?post=8213&amp;action=edit\">How to use machine learning to automate aligning optical components in experiments:<\/a><\/strong> Nathan worked with <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/photonics-programs\/2025\/09\/24\/tianyu-wang\/\">Tianyu Wang<\/a><\/strong> in the AI Photonics Lab, utilizing<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> machine learning to align optical components in the laboratory&#8217;s experiments<\/span>. He was mentored by <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/photonics-programs\/2025\/09\/24\/weiru-fan\/\">Weiru Fan.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h4>&#8220;I love Boston, and I would totally return to BU too! Honestly I like a lot of things in the city.
