Outdoorsy.<\/strong> These are just a few words we would use to describe Boston.<\/p>\n<p>Boston University is located in the heart of Boston, with our main campus stretching along the Charles River in an urban environment. Our location provides easy access to the city&#8217;s activities and amenities just off campus.<\/p>\n<p>REUs can take full advantage of the warm summer weather to explore Boston\u2019s wide variety of outdoor activities, cultural attractions, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/today\/series\/nearby-neighborhoods\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">neighborhoods<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What are some must-see attractions?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Boston is steeped in history. In fact, we have more historical buildings than any other city in America! Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.neaq.org\/index.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New England Aquarium<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mos.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Museum of Science<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>How do I get around?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>REU housing is located in BU&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/housing\/residence\/south-campus-traditional-brownstones\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">South Campus<\/a> \u2013 just minutes from BU research labs, the <a href=\"https:\/\/esplanade.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Charles River Esplanade<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/articles\/2025\/getting-to-know-your-neighborhood-kenmore-square\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fenway Neighborhood<\/a>, and numerous public transit options.<\/p>\n<p>Boston&#8217;s downtown is compact, making it easy to get around by foot or via public transportation.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The subway, buses, and trolleys that make up the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mbta.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority<\/a> (MBTA) \u2013\u00a0more commonly known as the T \u2013 allow you to travel easily all over the city and suburbs.<\/li>\n<li>BU also offers a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/thebus\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">free bus shuttle<\/a>\u00a0between the Charles River Campus, Fenway and BU Medical Center Campuses.<\/li>\n<li>Biking is an increasingly popular way to get around, and our\u00a0campus\u00a0stretches along Commonwealth Avenue, home of Boston\u2019s first bike lanes.
