She received her Ph.D. from the University of Chicago in 1985, and has held visiting positions at Harvard, the University of Pennsylvania, and the universities of Bonn, Bern and Luzern. Her main areas of research are the practical and theoretical philosophies of Kant and Hegel. She has been awarded grants by NEH, ACLS, DAAD, the Fulbright Foundation, and the Alexander von Humboldt-Stiftung. <span>Her publications include the monographs <\/span><i>Kant\u2019s Groundwork of the Metaphysics of Morals: An Introduction<\/i><span> (Cambridge, 2008), <\/span><i>Hegel\u2019s Critique of Kant<\/i><span> (Oxford, 2012), and <\/span><i>Time and History in Hegelian Thought and Spirit<\/i><span> (Oxford, 2023).<\/span> She is editor of the volume The Reception of Kant&#8217;s Critical Philosophy: Fichte, Schelling and Hegel (Cambridge, 2000). From 2014-2019, she co-edited the International Yearbook of German <em>Idealism\/Internationales Jahrbuch des Deutschen Idealismus<\/em> with Dina Emundts.
