Teaching Resources

Most BU doctoral students will teach at some point during their education—many will even go on to be educators. Developing skills as an instructor is a crucial component of a doctoral education. Below are offices and programs that provide resources and training for doctoral students looking to prepare themselves for the classroom.

Center for Teaching & Learning

The Center for Teaching & Learning (CTL) helps graduate students develop as teachers. Their workshops offer graduate students an opportunity to learn practical, research-based teaching strategies, to reflect on their own classroom practice, and to connect with peer instructors across the University. Graduate students may also consult with CTL staff for further individualized help on topics such as facilitating classroom discussions, crafting a teaching statement, and designing a syllabus.

Digital Learning & Innovation

For doctoral students who are interested in using technology to enhance their teaching, Digital Learning & Innovation (DL&I) offers a variety of events and services that can help you learn how to use Blackboard effectively, create instructional videos, and more.
