Funding Resources

Doctoral students at Boston University often pursue additional funding sources to support their education and research efforts. These internal and external funding sources include grants, fellowships, and awards for research, travel, and professional development.

Internal Funding

PDPA’s Professional Development Grant program offers grants of up to $500 for select external opportunities that have the potential to significantly benefit doctoral students’ professional growth. Learn more and apply here.

The Office of the Provost maintains an extensive list of internal awards available to graduate students. In addition, the PhD Progression Finding Funding badge contains many valuable resources for locating funding sources across disciplines, including lists of internal BU grants and fellowships and links to trusted databases of national and international grants, fellowships, and funding opportunities. All PhD students in good standing at Boston University are guaranteed five years of stipend support and health insurance. External Funding

The Office of Research’s Find Funding page provides access to various search tools, including Pivot-RP—a database designed to aid faculty, staff, and students in matching research interests to potential external funding sources and promote collaborations with colleagues.
