PDC Welcomes Dr. Michael Bono, PDC Fellow

Dr. Michael Bono has recently joined the PDC to work with Prof. Catherine Klapperich on the development of microneedle arrays to sample interstitial fluid for biochemical monitoring via wearable sensors.

Dr. Bono completed his PhD in 2015 at Cornell University, where he developed a dielectric method to measure algal lipid content. Before coming to Boston University, he was a postdoctoral researcher at the MIT Tata Center for Technology and Design, where he worked on the development of improved water quality measurement technology for use in resource-limited settings.

Dr. Bono’s primary research interest is the development of effective sensing and measurement solutions for society’s most critical problems through interdisciplinary research and stakeholder engagement. His areas of expertise include analytical chemistry, material characterization, microfluidics, electrochemistry, dielectric spectroscopy, inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS), flow cytometry, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR).
