Dr. Shashi Bhuckory Named first PDC Fellow

Dr. Bhuckory joins the lab of Dr. Allison Dennis

Dr. Bhuckory joins us from University Paris-Sud, University Paris-Saclay, France. His work is focus on bioconjugation, optical characterization, steady-state and time resolved spectroscopy, and time resolved FRET immunoassays. He will work with Dr. Dennis to translate her work on quantum dots for continuous biological sensing.

Shashi Bhuckory obtained his Master degree in Physics and Energy Engineering in 2013 and received in 2016 his PhD in Physics where he worked on a PhD project about clinical diagnostics with time-resolved FRET spectroscopy, from Université Paris-Sud, France. Before joining the Department of Biomedical Engineering in January 2018 as a postdoctoral associate, Dr. Bhuckory was a postdoctoral researcher in Prof. Niko Hildebrandt’s lab where he was working on the commercial exploitation of quantum dot-antibody conjugates for FRET immunoassays. His research interests are in optical bio-sensing using different fluorophores ranging from classical dyes, over lanthanide complexes, to various nanoparticles, and their application for clinical diagnostics. He is also motivated into the translation of technologies into commercial applications.
