The ALSC was formed in 1994 to serve as a forum for anyone with a serious
scholarly or critical interest in literature. It welcomes both classicists and
modernists, independent and academic literary critics, as well as creative writers and
editors. The proceedings of the first national conference (Minneapolis, September
1995) have been published in the April 1996 issue of
Philosophy and Literature.
