An unprecedented gathering of fifty poets from the eight
NOI~lic
countries of
Denmark, The Faeroe Islands, Finland, Greenland, Ice land, Norway,
'Samiland', Sweden and The Aland Islands at The Great Hall, Cooper Union.
There will be two days of readings, in the original languages and English
translation and panel discussions, lectures and seminars with the visiting
poets and a valiety of American poets, essayists and novelists. A member of
the Swedish Academy will speak about the :'<lobeI Prize for Literature and a
special evening will honor the distinguished Swedish poet, Tomas Transtromel:
The recently published Nordic Poetry Festival Anthology features selected
translations of each of the visiting poets.
