in transcending the five destinies

This is
how we learn, by just such unseen
art, to approach the divine. Next slide please.
THEODORE WEISS
A Matter of Degree
It's
all,
you know, a matter
of degree. So a rock's a noun,
a river's a verb, and in between
a tree.
But look again
and "rock" you'll see can be
as active as you like: a "river,"
dwindling
into a "stream,"
seems fast asleep until a storm
"streams" it to ape a spate
of sea.
And should a tiger,
ravenously clawing just below,
"tree" you up a lofty, puny limb
that "tree,"
however serving
birds and squirrels, proves an
inbetween of quiverings to rival
yours.
Or as the blind seer
observed, "The show depends on
how you look at it. Each thing's
a going concern."
