pogrom perpetrated against the
Hungarian minority. We know that the
majority of Romanians are horrified to
see the bloodthirsty mob that has been
made drunk and given iron bars, and
they commiserate with the persecuted
whose only sin has been to ask that the
rights and institutions taken away from
them by the dictatorship be restored.
However, the massacre did indeed
take place; those responsible for law
and order did not intervene, and the
lorries carrying thugs did arrive one
after another in the village.
