RS:
A number of artists in the English literary tradition have thought
of themselves as poet-prophets. Do you believe there is a prophetic
dimension to art?
EN:
I think art is a very serious occupation. Art was born together with
man and this proves that art is not only a public phenomenon but
lies at the basis of man's deep internal nature and possibly goes
beyond the bounds of mere human activity. In any case, I'm con–
vinced that in true art it's possible to notice laws which are found not
only in art but in human activity as a whole and in nature.
RS:
If
art can go beyond the bounds of man and man's limitations,
then how?
EN:
This is a complex question. But I think that communications are
more complex and more universal than any other type of human
activity.
